Mother you were the nicest, you were always there for us
You sung us nursery rhymes as you bounced us on your knee
You did everything that you could for us then left us on our own
The angels wanted you with them so they came and took you home
No one could ask more from their mum than what you did for us
Every day you gave us time, our closeness all could see
You cuddled and cherished us as a mother always does
Supported us in everything and often gave us a shove
You wiped our tears when we cried and laughed at all our ways
We reminded you of you when you were in your youthful days
We know we tried you with our moments as every child does
When life can get too much to bear in all the tear and rush
But you were there for us whenever we needed you
Sadly we never told you just how much we loved you too
And now it is too late, for your arms we can no longer feel
We should have told you when we could that our love for you was real.
